(Oregon)—The tax increase referendum campaign, Taxpayer Defense Fund, today announced their organizational structure.

Chief spokesperson for the Taxpayer Defense Fund is Citizens for a Sound Economy Northwest Director Russ Walker. Walker is a ten year veteran of campaigns and tax policy issues and is profiled as a featured speaker around the country.

“While the Republican Party and other grassroots organizations are not directly tied to the campaign structure, we look forward to working with a broad range of groups to accomplish our goal of strengthening Oregon's economy through creating jobs, not more taxes,” said Walker.

Coming to the campaign direct from the House Majority Office is Campaign Manager Angela Wilhelms. Wilhelms also served as Executive Director of The Leadership Fund, the 2002 Senate Republicans' caucus re-election PAC. Wilhelms will work with Walker to coordinate all campaign activity.

“The first stage of the process is to get the issue on the ballot, letting voters exercise their constitutional right to enact or reject Oregon's largest tax increase in history,” said Wilhelms.

Heading up the finance component of the campaign is State Representative Linda Flores (R-Boring). Rep. Flores will serve as the campaign Finance Chair and seeks to add to the $300,000 already committed to the campaign.

“Russ and the campaign have done a tremendous job of raising funds thus far,” said Flores. “I look forward to building on their momentum.”

Finally, Adams & Co., owned by one of Oregon's top GOP consultants Chuck Adams, has been retained as general consultants for the referendum. Adams & Co. will advise the media and strategic aspects of the campaign.

Spokespeople for the campaign are Walker, Wilhelms and Rep. Flores.
